Aussie Tennis was founded in 1990 by Brian Laver, who remains a Director to this day.
The Laver family has a rich tennis history. Rod Laver, arguably the greatest tennis player of all time, needs no further introduction. While Rod was the touring pro of the family, his cousins Ian and Brian also undertook successful careers in tennis.
Laver's International Resort was founded by Ian, and developed in the late 1970s. A 100 acre resort featuring 36 courts total and 2 stadium courts, 2 clubhouses, 2 restaurants, 5 pools, and over 1200 luxury apartments, Laver's was one of the most extensive tennis resorts in the world during the 1980s.
Brian was Head Coaching Professional of Laver's between 1979 and 1985, during which time a number of major professional events were held at the resort, including the first round of the World Championship Tennis Circuit in 1982.
After returning to Australia in the mid-1980s, Brian took on roles as Director of Tennis at the Hilton International and the Dockside Sports Club, in Brisbane, prior to commencing Aussie Tennis with operations in West End and South Brisbane.
